            Practical theology is a distinct theological discipline that examines the diverse areas of

            Christian practice in today’s late modern world. It seeks to gain a deeper understanding o
            what takes place within it and why—and to engage with it in a creative and constructive wa
            form of theory that helps practitioners exercise their own judgment and make informed deci

            to present and future action. In doing so, it draws on insights from other theological dis
            as from non-theological fields within the humanities and social sciences.


            The Department of Practical Theology at the Protestant Theological Faculty of Charles Univ
            primarily on teaching and research in the fields of homiletics, liturgics, catechetics, po

            diaconics. The department’s faculty members contribute to teaching in nearly all study pro
            faculty. They educate not only future theologians and pastors, but also pastoral, social, 
            crisis workers.
