STUDY PROGRAMMES AT BACHELOR LEVEL

The three-year Bachelor's programme in Protestant Theology, taught in Czech

This option is for those who have not yet studied theology at university level. It is open both to those who intend to enter church ministry and to other candidates. It is the standard programme followed by our Czech students, and provides a basic grounding in the classical theological disciplines: biblical studies, systematic and practical theology, church history, ethics, philosophy, the comparative study of religions, and the biblical languages. The requirements include fluency in Czech and a secondary school leaving examination (e.g. baccalauréat, A levels, Abitur, high school diploma). Those successfully completing the programme will be awarded a Bachelor's degree by Charles University. In order to be considered for the ministry by the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren, graduates will need to continue studying and obtain a Master's degree. It is also possible to follow joint degree Bachelor's programmes in the combinations Protestant Theology and Philosophy, and Protestant Theology and Education. The three-year Bachelor's programme in the Theology of Christian Traditions, taught in Czech

This programme is aimed at students who are perhaps studying a different subject or already working, and do not plan to go into full-time ministry, but are interested in theology or want to bring a theologically informed approach to their professional work. Courses are taught in the evening and are ecumenically oriented, examining classical theological disciplines such as biblical studies, church history, dogmatics, and the liturgy from the viewpoint of the different Christian traditions. The requirements include fluency in Czech and a secondary school leaving examination (e.g. baccalauréat, A levels, Abitur, high school diploma). Those successfully completing the programme will be awarded a Bachelor's degree by Charles University. ExternĂ odkaz More details ExternĂ odkaz and application procedure

The programme provides theoretical and practical training in social work from a Christian perspective. Many graduates from this programme go on to work in church social work organisations such as Diakonie or Charita, or in other social and pastoral work settings. The programme includes work in practice placements in addition to academic courses in the social, psychological, educational, theological and philosophical disciplines.
