Abstract:

THE PROBLEM OF BAPTISM FROM THE NEW TESTAMENT PERSPECTIVE

The author, a protestant minister, is convinced that, in spite of its diversity and scarcity, the New Testament thought about baptism may serve as an important guide in our present discussions on the theme. Although the Christian baptism is undoubtedly a post-Easter phenomenon, it does not lack an important link to Jesus' earthly ministry, namely to his own baptism. To recognise this event as the act of institution might help to deepen our understanding of sacraments as grounded in Jesus' deed rather than in his instruction described against the background of what is possible to assume about the practice of John the Baptist. It is observed that the Christian reception of the ritual both brought new dimensions to it and emphasised some aspects already present. The fact that all these motives are not exclusively bound to baptism, but are found also in other contexts in the NT. Favours the conclusion, that the Christian understanding of baptism was not formed along the lines of developing the symbolic potentials of the water ritual, but rather by way of retrojective deriving its meaning from the reality of the saving work of Christ. Accordingly, in marking off the participation in this reality may be seen the basic and common meaning of baptism, underlying all its different interpretations in the NT. From the overall view, supplemented by a short treatment of the OT baptism associations and of two NT more complex baptism texts, some implications are drawn with respect to the practical questions.

Abstract:

ISTIS ULTIMIS TEMPORIBUS... Das Drama des M. J. Hus als Problem der Relativierung der kirchlichen Autorität in einem eschatologischen Kirchen-modell? Eine Anregung zur Diskussion.

Der Autor - als katholischer Historiker - versucht, die paulinisch-augustinianischen Wurzeln des Kirchenverständnisses bei Hus darzulegen, seine Nähe zu altkirchlichen Modellen. Diese Nähe ist unverkennbar; Hus betont allerdings in seiner Ekkleisologie die „presbyteriale“ Linie, die Kategorie des Priesters ist für ihn grundlegend und überschattet die Rolle des Bischofs. Die problematische und widerspruchsvolle Thematisierung der „streitenden Kirche“ bei Hus erscheint in der Sicht des Autors als der schwerwiegendste unter den Einwänden, welche die Gegner an den tschechischen Meister richteten. Diese Thematisierung, konsequent durchdacht, problematisiert die für Rom zentrale Frage des Ursprungs der kirchlichen Autorität. Das Beispiel J. Gersons zeigt, dass der Widerspruch gegen die vermeintliche Subjektivierung der objektiven Kriterien nicht unbedingt kanonisch-juristisch bedingt ist, sondern auch die spirituelle Dimension geltend machen kann. - Im letzten Teil seines Aufsatzes belegt der Autor seine These, dass die prädestinatorisch-theologische Argumentation bei Hus sich mit einer apokalyptischen Perspektive verbindet, die ihre Wurzeln in der einheimischen, aber auch in der joachimitischen Tradition hat. - Der Aufsatz, den sein Autor „zur Diskussion“ vorlegt, widerspiegelt mehrjährige Gespräche in der ökumenischen Kommission zur Erforschung der Person und der Lehre des M. J. Hus.

PROPRIUM DE LECTIONE. Einige liturgische Erfahrungen eines evangelischen Pfarrers, derzeit außer Dienst

Der systematische Theologe plädiert in einer Studie aus der angewandten Liturgik für grössere liturgische Kreativität des evangelischen Pfarrers. Dieser darf am Predigttext nicht nur exegetisch, homiletisch und seelsorgerlich, sondern auch liturgisch arbeiten. Am Beispiel "Himmelfahrts gottesdienst" illustriert er, wie das "proprium de tempore" um ein "proprium de lectione" (Apg, 1,1-14) zu bereichern wäre.
