Since the end of the last century, the Czech Protestant minority has been increasingly interested in biblical studies. Future theologians enrolled at the Protestant Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna with a good knowledge of Greek. They had acquired it at the grammar schools of the time and during their studies, which were mostly completed in Switzerland, Germany or Scotland, they also gained a good overview of the research in biblical studies. Many of them were able to report insightfully on contemporary research in Czech church journals, while others published Czech research papers at the European level.
