Abstract:

DEUTERONOMY 6 — PROVERBS 3

Striking similarities between these texts suggest that there must be some relation between them. The most probable explanation seems to be that the text of Proverbs 3 was composed in dependence on the passage from Deuteronomy (unless both of them were influenced by the same source). This supposition implies following: First, it proves that the Book of Proverbs was not a collection of randomly gathered sayings, but it was a carefully composed "theological" work. Second, it shows that the Book of Proverbs can be understood only in the realm of Yahwistic theology. Third, it clarifies the meaning of som Hebrew terms (namely me’od) by comparing their use in these two parallel texts. And last, it points out (if the all conclusions are correct) the special place of Deuteronomy 6 in Jewish theology as soon as at the time of the origin of the Book of Proverbs.

Abstract:

DIE ADDRESSATEN DES EVANGELIUMS NACH MATTHÄUS

Matthäus schreibt nicht an Heidenchristen die sich intensiv mit dem AT beschäftigen (gegen Strecker), sondern an Christen jüdischer Herkunft, für die erst der Anschluß aus der Synagoge zum Anlaß wurde, das Markus-Evangelium anzunehmen und die Heidenmission zu akzeptieren (so Luz). Diese Zusammenhänge beantworten die Frage, warum ein Evangelium, das offenbar an Markus anknüpft, den Eindruck eines Rückschrittes entstehen läßt: Probleme, die Markus als gelöst beiseite läßt, stehen erneut zur Debatte. Der Nachdruck auf die Erfüllung des Gesetzes ist in diesem Evangelium kein moralistischer und stellt keine Polemik mit Paulus dar, sondern wehrt sich eben gegen die moralisierende Auffassung der Synagoge der damaligen Zeit. Matthäus macht den Anspruch geltend, die Reduktion auf Gnade und Glauben sei gerade die "bessere Gerechtigkeit" im Vergleich mit der Einhaltung vieler alttestamentlicher Gebote. Aus ähnlicher Position polemisiert er auch mit irgendeiner Form des charismatischen Christentums: Barmherzigkeit (als der Wille des himmlischen Vaters) sei wichtiger als die attraktivsten Geistesgaben.

Abstract:

DER HEILIGE VOJTĚCH (ADALBERT) IM SPIEGEL DER TSCHECHISCHEN REFORMATION

Die Gestalt des Prager Bischofs-Märtyrers (gest. 23. 4. 997, kanonisiert 999) erscheint im Spiegel der Tschechischen Reformation sehr matt und eher periphär. In Traktaten, Predigten und Liedern der Theologen des Hussitismus und der Brüderunität kommt sein Name äusserst selten vor. Das dürfte auf die Tatsache zurückzuführen sein, dass Vojtěch, über das „blinde Volk“ der halbheidnischen tschechischen Stämme enttäuscht, seinen Bischofsdienst in Prag verlassen hat, um sich der Missionstätigkeit unter den polnischen Stämmen zu widmen. Zum Ideal des Priesters, und des Bischofs in der hussitischen Zeit gehört jedoch, dass dieser bei seinem Volk bleibt, auch wenn er auf Unverständnis stösst.

Abstract:

EVANGELISCHE THEOLOGIE IN DEN TSCHECHISCHEN LÄNDERN

Der Text Wurde auf dem Symposium „Tausend Jahre der tschechischen Theologie - Inspiration für heute und morgen“, das zum 80. Geburtstag Mons. Dr. Otto Madrs am 13. 2. 1997 unter der Teilnahme des Kardinals Vlk veranstaltet war, vorgetragen. Der Autor geht aus der Krisis des gregorianischen Modells aus, die in der Nicht bewältigung der politischen und geistlichen Macht beruht. Um die Lösung bemühte sich P. Chelčický, dessen Gedanken zu verwirklichen sich die Brüderunitat anstrebte (Bischof Lukas von Prag). Das koinonische Leben der Brüdergemeinden war für J. A. Comenius die Quelle der dialogischen Auffassung der Wirklichkeit und der Wahrheit, die lebendig ist. In diesem Zusammenhang kann man mil F. Palacký und T. G. Masaryk auch über das demokratische Ethos der Brüder sprechen. — Die evangelische Theologie nach der Unterbrechung durch die Gegenreformation knüpfte im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert an den deutschen theologischen Liberalismus an. Einige tschechischen Theologen aus der evangelischen und aus der hussitischen Kirche werden genannt. Die Theologie wurde stark durch den Nationalismus und die antirömisch-katholische Einstellung gefärbt. Einen radikalen Wechsel bedeutete die Theologie J. L. Hromádkas, der auf die gemeinsamen Wurzeln der Orthodoxie, des römischen Katholizismus und des Protestantismus hingewiesen hat. Im Beitrag wurde das Bedauern für den tschechischen Nationalismus und Antikatholizismus der Protestanten ausgesprochen. So ist auf Grund der Theologie Hromádkas und der Äußerungen des Kardinals J. Beran auf dem II. Vaticanum eine neue ökumenische Bibelübersetzung (M, Bič, J.B. Souček) zu sehen.

Abstract:

THE PHILOSOPHICAL PROBLEM OF CONCEPTUAL NON-OBJECTIVITY AND ITS POSSIBLE THEOLOGICAL CONSEQUENCES

Critical analysis of the traditional (originally Greek) conceptuality shows its limits, important especially for philosophy and theology. The main problem consists in the usual connection between concepts and respective "intentional objects", i.e. intellectual constructions (models). Theologians have good reasons for being interested in philosophers trying to save conceptuality, but to orient their thoughts to "intentional non-objects" as well as to "non-objective" aspects of actual beings.

Abstract:

COSMIC DIMENSIONS OF CHRISTOLOGY AND SOTERIOLOGY

Salvation in Christ does not have only a spiritual dimension in the salvation of individuals, but also a cosmic dimension in salvation of all the Universe. We can see this in the Israelite prophets, as well as in the Apostle Paul, in Acts and in Revelation. Later, we find such ideas in the Church Fathers, then in Cusanus, Comenius and also Luther. Christ is not only the Ecclesiokrator, but also the Pantokrator. We must purify the Biblical idea of apokatastasis ton panton from an Origenian misinterpretation. For this reason, theology has to support all strivings for humanization of the world. Because the world is created through the Logos, the world must be humane. Only a humane state, humane medicine, humane economics, etc. is in accordance with the idea that the world is created through the Logos.

Abstract:

CHRISTIAN POLITICAL PARTIES — YES OR NO?

The author is reconsidering the problem of Christian political parties and "Christian" politics. He holds the political life for an unavoidable part of Christian responsibility and Christian politics and even Christian political parties for possible. This, however,is a very delicate matter. The word "Christian" must not be used to designate norms or values which the politician or party is intending to fight for. To say "Christian politics" is to appeal to the norm by which our political engagement is to be judged. This opens the possibility of a broadly open and ecumenically oriented Christian politics.
