Ähnlich und doch ganz anders: Priester und Propheten über die Begriffe heilig und unrein

Author:

Joep Dubbink

Abstract:

Author:

Irmgard Pahl

Abstract:

The way the reformational churches celebrate the Eucharist has been shaped by the alterations the reformers in 16th century introduced in their spheres of influence. The original intention was to emphasize the communal character of the sacrament, yet it has ironically led to its extreme rareness. The sole criterion of the Lord's supper being explicit Biblical instruction, some of its traditional elements got lost. The 20th century, however, has witnessed a new interest in the traditional structure of the Eucharist even among Protestants, supported by rediscovery of important documents of the Early church. The article deals wit the reception of this development within German-speaking Protestantism.

Möglichkeiten der psychologischen Exegese

Author:

Hajnalka Ravasz

Abstract:

In spite of the interdisciplinary cooperation professed by so many theologians at German-speaking universities, the acknowledgement of other fields of study has been often missing. This is e. g. the case of the cooperation between biblical exegesis and psychology. In this article, I would like to provide an insight into the diversity of psychological exegesis and in this way to open to psychology an access into the biblical exegesis. I would like to dispel the misunderstanding that psychological exegesis means to psychologize the biblical characters. Careful application of the modern psychological terms in exegesis is possible because texts are expressions of human experience and behaviour. In the social-psychological exegesis the danger of violent psychologizing of texts is minimized by the clear awareness of an abyss between our time and the social and historical context of the texts. I hope that the method of social-psychological exegesis can liberate the Bible from its speechlessness by releasing the New Testament exegesis from the dominance of historical criticism.

God's Present Voice: The Theology and Hermeneutics of the Moravian Daily Texts (Herrnhuter Losungen)

Author:

Peter Vogt

Abstract:

Moravian Daily Texts (Losungen der Brüdergemeine) is adeveotional booklet with biblical readings for each day of the year, published by the Moravians since 1731. It is widely used in Germany and internationally. Although its appearance is simple, the mode of selection and the constellation of the three readings raise complex hermeneutical issues, including the question as to how the Daily Texts may said to convey God*s voice to individual readers. These issues are discussed with regard to the history and the theology of the „Watchwords".

'Taken out of Context': Freedom and Concreteness in the Theology of Wolf Krötke

Author:

Philip Gordon Ziegler

Abstract:

Wolf Krötke 's theological project has at its heart two themes, those of freedom and concreteness. The first theme sets Christian theology within that 'broad place' divinely afforded for faithful human reflection and action. The second theme, requires theology to discern and assume responsibility for our particular time and place as a context which is itself encompassed by the gospel's reality. Krötke 's work is an exemplary instance of this dialectic between freedom and concreteness in Christian theology which offers an alternative to much 'contextual theology. ' Over several decades he has laboured to make plain the significance of this theological orientation for the church, first within the context of the officialy atheistic and authoritarian GDR, and latterly within the massively de-christianised society that state has bequeathed to Eastern Germany.

'Text -- Kontext -- Inhalt -- Botschaft': Zu Jan Hellers 'Leisten'

Author:

Martin Prudký

Abstract:

It is only after the decease of Prague Old Testament scholar Jan Heller early this year that the whole of his scholarly, human and Christian contribution can be evaluated and appreciated. Heller, a pupil of Slavomil C. Danëk and himself teacher of three generations of Czech theologians, was primarily interested in „kerygmatic intention" of biblical texts. To acquire this. Heller proceeds in four stages. First he encounters the text as a philological object. Secondly he examines its cultural, religious and historical context. Thirdly the content of the text has to be encountered, often signalized and determined by its proponents' names. Finally the message of it with regards to the community has to be formulated.
