Biblický kánon a problém autority

Autor:

Abstrakt:

Biblical Canon and the Problem of Authority

In recent centuries, the authority of the Bible has been primarily a subject of apology. However, the Christian conception of the canon can also be an inspiration in the world in which authorities are a problem. On the one hand, after the unfortunate experience with totalitarian ideologies, we rightly resist the authoritarian usurpers of truth. On the other hand, it turns out that we cannot do without authority. Approaching the Biblical collection as a (court) dispute of witnesses corresponds to the original ancient understanding of authority as an alternative to the exercise of power.

Word of God and Word of Man as an Argument for Diachronic Differentiation in the Book of Jeremiah

Autor:

Tobias Maurer

Abstrakt:

According to some scholars some of the oldest texts in the book of Jeremiah can be found in the words from the foe from the north in Jer 4–6. Originally these texts were words of the prophet and spoken from a human point of view. Their characterization as Words of YHWH and the divine perspective is therefore regarded as a result of the literary development of these texts and the theological reflection on the disaster of 587 BC. The paper will follow this approach. The possibilities and limits of the distinction between Word of God and word of man as an indication for literary development in the texts from the foe from the north shall be examined.

Practical Ecumenist: Josef Smolík and Ecumenism

The article focuses on Josef Smolík's activities in the field of ecumenism. In addition to the connection between the teaching of ecumenism and practical theology at the Protestant Theological Faculty, attention is given to his activities both in the world ecumenical work (World Council of Churches) and in Czech ecumenical work in the context of strained relations with the communist regime. Smolík's emphasis was on the practical orientation of ecumenical activities.

„V otázce ‚fenoménu Hromádka‘ je třeba se rozhodnout“: Vztah Josefa Smolíka k J. L. Hromádkovi v soudobém evangelickém kontextu

“Concerning the ‘Phenomenon Hromádka’ One Needs to be Decisive”: The Relation of Josef Smolík to J. L. Hromádka in the Protestant Context of the Time

Josef L. Hromádka represented for Josef Smolík from the beginning of his study of theology and his active engagement in the Evangelical Church of the Bohemian Brethren as pastor and teacher of practical theology a dominant figure for his theological orientation. His view on the Czech systematic theologian saw a development from a more critical view in the time after the Second World War to a strong appreciation in the 1970s and 1980s. This study examines the evolution of Smolík’s view on Hromádka in the context of the stages of the communist rule in Czechoslovakia and compares it to the views of his contemporaries in both the Protestant establishment as well as in dissident circles of the time.

Lidská práva a pravoslaví: přehled a vyhodnocení současné debaty

Abstrakt:

Human Rights and Orthodoxy: An Overview and Assessment of the Current Debate

In the Orthodox world, the debate on human rights has been one of the most interesting in recent years. There is an influential tendency among Orthodox priests, monks and laity to completely reject the idea of human rights as a mere Western invention without any cultural or spiritual basis among Eastern Christians. The critical problems are to be found in the different understanding of human dignity and the resulting emphasis on freedom or morality. Our task and question, therefore, is to identify the key points in this debate and to see what possible solutions to the existing dilemmas are available. In this article, we will attempt to map out the main players and arguments for the Czech reader, critically present and evaluate them.
