Cíle projektu:

Výzkum plochy E3 ve čtvercích P-Q/5 a T/5. Tato část se nachází na východní svahu Města Davidova a byla prozkoumána Y. Šílem během 70. a 80. let 20. století. V E3 je doložena řada sídelních vrstev a lidské aktivity od rané doby bronzové (cca 2900 př. Kr.) do raného římského období (1. stol. po Kr.). Projekt se zaměřil na přezkoumání kontrolních bloků, které zůstaly předchozími archeology záměrně nedotčeny, díky čemuž bylo možné identifikovat jednotlivé vrstvy a využít současných dostupných metod k jejich datování. Cílem bylo získat především organické zbytky v podobě pylů, fytolitů, semen a dalšího organického materiálu pro C14 analýzu. Na zpracování vzorků, které by měly doplnit a upřesnit chybějící část chronologie osídlení Jeruzaléma, pracuje Dr. Johanna Regev z Weizmann Institute of Science.
