Abstract:	Der hier folgende Aufsatz stammt aus einer grossen Monographie über den bekanntesten Illustrator des 19. Jahrhunderts: Gustave Doré. Diese wird im »Verlag der Kunst«, Dresden, erseheinen. Der Verfasser ist marxistischer Kunst- und Kultur- historiker, bekannt vor allem durch seine Essays über Picasso, Rembrandt, Bertott Brecht, Gottfried Keller u. a. Ebenfalls ist ein Buch: »Christentum und Eigentum bis Thomas von Aquin« von ihm erschienen. Diesen kleinen Teilabschnitt über Dorés Bibel bringen wir an in der Annahme, dass die Analyse Interesse bei unserer Leserschaft finden wird.
